Google profile, DabaDoc, directories: existing well on the Moroccan health web
“I have my Google profile, that’s enough.” It is the costliest misconception on the Moroccan health web. Because a patient doesn’t look for you in a single place: they type your name into Google, come across a listing on a booking platform, land on an old directory entry, spot you on Maps. If those touchpoints tell three different stories — three addresses, two numbers, a closed practice — it is your credibility that dilutes, listing after listing.
Where your patients actually look for you
Searching for a doctor in Morocco has become a digital reflex, almost always on mobile. The patient chains together several sources without thinking about it: the search engine and its Google profile, the booking app they already installed, the map to check the distance, a medical directory to cross-reference. Each of these surfaces is a small virtual waiting room. You don’t have to be everywhere — but wherever you are, you must be accurate and complete.
NAP: three pieces of information, one single truth
Local search professionals call it the NAP: Name, Address, Phone. It is the bedrock of your local identity, and the rule is simple: these three pieces of information must be strictly identicaleverywhere they appear. Not “Dr Amine Benani” here and “A. Bennani” there. Not “12 Al Ansar Street” on one side and “12, El Ansar Street, 2nd floor” on the other. Not your personal mobile on one listing and the front-desk line on another.
These variations look harmless to a human. To Google and to AI, they are contradictory signals that weaken the trust placed in your presence. Settle once and for all on an official form of the name, the address and the number, write it down somewhere, and propagate it identically.
Claim rather than create
Many practitioners want to “create” their listings. Yet in most cases they already exist: Google automatically generates listings from public data, and directories import whole lists of doctors. Your first task, then, is not to create but to claim. Search for your name on Google Maps and on the main directories, and inventory everything that already exists about you — including duplicates and listings for a former practice.
Claiming a Google Business listing is done with a Google account and an identity check — in Morocco, often by a postal letter containing a code, sent to the practice within one to two weeks. That delay cannot be compressed: start the process early. Our Google & directories Foundations package handles this inventory and these claims end to end.
The five most common mistakes
- Duplicates. Two Google listings for the same practice — often one claimed and one ghost — split your reviews and blur the ranking. They must be merged or the intruder reported.
- The former practice. An address you have left keeps sending patients knocking on the wrong door for years if no one corrects it.
- The vague category.“Doctor” instead of “Cardiologist” deprives you of specialty searches — precisely the ones made by decided patients.
- The personal number. Publishing your private mobile always ends badly; use the practice line, identical everywhere.
- The listing with no photo or hours. An empty listing breeds doubt. A façade, a waiting room, hours kept up to date — including Ramadan and holidays — reassure in a second.
DabaDoc and directories: what to fill in
On a booking platform like DabaDoc, or on a medical directory, fill in the same fields with the same rigor: official name, precise specialty, address in canonical form, practice number, languages spoken, procedures actually performed. Stay factual: Morocco’s Code of Medical Ethics allows accurate information about your background and your procedures, but prohibits advertising, superlatives and promises of results. Good news: plain language is also the one Google and AI understand best. Communicating well and respecting the code are the same work.
Why consistency also feeds the AI
When a patient asks ChatGPT or Gemini “which specialistshould I see in my city?”, the AI does not recite a knowledge base: it reads the web live and composes its answer. If your contact details are consistent from one source to the next, it recognizes you as a single, reliable entity. If they diverge, you become three blurry fragments that no system knows how to piece back together. The clean listing is no longer just a shop window: it is the raw material that search engines and AI read. We detail this mechanism in our article on what AI says about you.
Key takeaway
- Your patients look for you across several surfaces: each must say the same thing.
- The NAP — name, address, phone — must be strictly identical everywhere.
- Start by claiming what exists, not by creating; then hunt down duplicates.
- Stay factual: ethics and effectiveness point in the same direction.
Where to start
With measurement. Before touching anything, inventory what already exists in your name and what it conveys. That is the point of our free audit: a status report on your presence, listing by listing, presented to you in person. You can also consult our proof and references, some content examples, or the physicians’ area and its practice pricing.
Frequently asked questions
Do you have to be listed on every Moroccan medical directory?
No. Three accurate, complete and consistent listings are worth far more than ten half-filled ones with different contact details. Prioritize Google Business, a booking platform your patients already use, and one or two credible local directories. Quality and consistency matter more than quantity.
A directory created a listing in my name without telling me. What should I do?
This is common: many directories import public lists. Do not ignore it — an unclaimed listing often shows outdated or wrong information. Claim it (each platform has a 'this is my business' procedure), correct the contact details, then align them with your Google profile. A poorly filled ghost listing hurts you as much as being absent.
Does consistency of contact details really have an effect?
Yes, on two levels. For Google, identical details everywhere strengthen trust in your listing and its local ranking. For AI, which reads the web to answer patients, a single name and address let it recognize you as one entity rather than several half-identities.
